Nearly 1,000 team members and onlookers from the Delaware community came out to the New Castle County airbase to support Special Olympics Delaware on Sunday morning, April 14. The objective: each team of twenty team members pulls a rope for twelve feet, but the rope is attached to the front of a 100,000 pound C-130 Hercules Aircraft!

About twenty current and retired members of the Delaware National Guard, officers and enlisted members spanning the last 50 years of military service, flew two hours in one of our C-130 aircraft the morning of April 13, 2002 to McGhee-Tyson Air National Guard Base, just outside of Knoxville, Tennessee. Their destination was an 11:00 a.m. dedication of a Multimedia Center in honor of Brig. Gen. (retired) William W. Spruance, at the Air National Guard’s I.G. Brown Training and Education Center (TEC), in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.

The Delaware Army National Guard Fitness Center located at 1197 River Road in New Castle was dedicated on Thursday, April 11, in honor of Col. (Retired) Anthony J. Quattro, a true pioneer in his efforts to bring strength and fitness consciousness to the soldiers of the Delaware Army National Guard.

On Thursday, March 14, five members of the 142nd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron returned home to Delaware. The other 12 members are expected to return later this month or next month, according to Capt. Len Gratteri, State Public Affairs Officer.
