By Maj. Frank Santore, 280th Signal Battalion, Executive Officer

Spc. Robert Ford (center) receives the "Airman" of the Quarter award at the Security Forces Squadron on Dover Air Force Base.

Staff Sgt. Vaughn Thomas (center) receives the NCO of the Quarter award at the Security Forces Squadron on Dover Air Force Base.

The Airman and Non Commissioned Officer of the Quarter process at the Security Forces Squadron on Dover Air Force Base was augmented to include the Delaware Army National Guard soldiers this quarter. A soldier and NCO from the 280th Signal Battalion were selected based on the same criteria as the existing program. Spc. Robert Ford and Staff Sgt. Vaughn Thomas from Det. 2, 280th Signal Battalion, were recognized for their outstanding efforts in support of the security mission.

Additionally, each was recognized for their excellent M16A2 weapon qualification scores. Each was identified as maintaining outstanding military appearance with haircut, uniform and boots. Their immediate supervisors acknowledged that they quickly learned the responsibilities of the security forces members and eagerly sought out more knowledge and responsibility. Lt. Col. Contrades and Cpt. Steven Willey presented each with the quarterly award during the Guard Mount formation.
