A MEDEVAC crew from the 832nd Medical Company (Air Ambulance) landed at
McNeil Island Prison in Washington State to conduct training on March 25.
The training consisted of MEDEVAC procedures to include: litter loading,
medical equipment familiarization, aircraft safety, and aircraft emergency
shutdown.
The training was a joint effort between the McNeil Island Fire
Department and the 832nd. The prison uses MEDEVAC aircraft to transport
injured or ill prisoners to medical facilities off the island on a regular
basis. Air transport is the quickest and most reliable method of
transporting medical emergencies.
