Across America, April 24th was "take your child to work day," While other children were taken to offices and other business establishments, Gregory Kownacki, step-son to Sgt. Scott Boeckelmann was treated to a first hand look at how this country flies.

Army Aviation with the Delaware Army National Guard has been a subject of interest to Boeckelmann’s step-son for some time and was also the subject of a recent school assignment given to Greg regarding his future career choice. The young scholar spent an extensive amount of time compiling information for his report using this web-site, printed recruitment materials, and face a face interview with Boeckelmann. Part two of Greg’s assignment was a first hand look at his future career choice.

After meeting his Commanding Officers for the day, the future "PVT Kownacki" was given some hands on activities, including readying aircraft 641 for a morning flight by participating in an electrical power-on check. Prior to his AASF experience Greg had expressed an interest in joining the Delaware Army National Guard. At the end of his day, he was already mentally packing his duffle bag to head off to Basic Training in 3 years when he turns 17. Greg summed his experience up at the end of his step-dad’s work day with a huge smile and one word…… "AWESOME!"
