was a great opportunity for the Base Honor Guard as practices for events are usually
limited to a few members and are done just scant hours before
a particular job or event is to take
place.
Send-off ceremony held for 153rd's upcoming deployment On August 12th, the Delaware Army National Guard held a send-off ceremony at Fort Du Pont in Delaware City for the 153rd Military Police Company. The 153rd began a 270-day activation and deployment in support of Operation Desert Spring in Saudi Arabia. ![]() Officer Candidate School Class #45 graduated from the 193rd Regiment Regional Training Institute on August 11. The graduating class consisted of 10 members. Eight of the 10 members of the class accepted their gold bars during the commissioning ceremony for their hard work.
Arrival ceremony held as Blackhawks touchdown in Delaware On August 9 the Delaware National Guard held a ceremony at the Army Aviation Support Facility to celebrate the receipt of our first UH-60A Blackhawk helicopters. DNG Rifle Team takes first place in MACII Regional Match The Delaware National Guard Rifle Team placed first overall in the MAC II (Marksmanship Advisory Council, Region II) Regional Match last weekend at Ft Indiantown Gap, PA. Soldiers from the 249th Engineer Company won top honors against the Region's best riflemen. Our Pistol Team also placed third overall in their competitions. 166th Fire Department selected as ANG Fire Department of
YearDelaware’s own 166th Airlift Wing Fire Department has been selected by an impartial panel as the Air National Guard Fire Department of the Year for 2001. Duffy sets the standard during technical training at Keesler AFB In the fall of 2001 Jean Duffy enlisted as a third-generation member of the 166 Airlift Wing, beginning her journey as an Information Manager, to be assigned to the 166 Logistics Support Flight. Airman Basic Jean Duffy has, since her October 2001 enlistment date, completed both Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, and the six week Information Management Technical Training School at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi.
Some Birds Migrate Farther Than Others
… As was
certainly the case with the newest birds to arrive in Delaware. Rather
than feathered fowl, on Thursday July 25, at 5:30 p.m., the first two
UH-60A Blackhawk helicopters were spotted in the skies over Delaware,
making their new home the Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) in New
Castle, Delaware.
Soldiers from 153rd Military Police Company continued preparing for their deployment to Saudia Arabia by conducting many tactical exercises and drills including first aid and safety at the 193rd Regional Training Institute from July 14 to the 21. They are planning to depart from their Delaware City unit on August 12. ![]() The 193rd Regional Training Institute (RTI) Staff went to Fort Indiantown Gap, Penn., in early July to conduct Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS) training for 240 Officer Candidate School (OCS) candidatates. |
