Officer Candidate School Class #45 graduated from the 193rd
Regiment Regional Training Institute on August 11. The graduating class
consisted of 10 members. Eight of the 10 members of the class
accepted their gold bars during the commissioning ceremony for their
hard work.
On hand for the ceremony was Maj. Gen. Francis D. Vavala,
Adjutant General, Delaware National Guard. Vavala was a member of
class #14 just about 32 years ago. He offered a few words to the
candidates.
"The sky is the limit, and there is plenty of potential in
the Delaware National Guard," said Vavala. He also went on to tell
the candidates that the management experiences that they have
learned are priceless.
The guest
speaker on hand for the ceremony was Lt. Col. (ret.) John
Rawley (Read his bio>>>
)
Mr. Rawley said of his move to the Delaware
Guard: "Best move I ever made was coming to Delaware." At one time during
the ceremony Rawley turned and pointed to the US flag and told the
candidates to defend this.
Awards were presented to the candidates to
recognize the hard work and effort they displayed during the
program.
