Buildings 2806, 2809 come crumbling down!
By Tech. Sgt. Ken Bennett, 166 Civil Engineering Squadron

The completion of building 2805, which now houses both the  142nd Airlift Squadron and the 142nd Aeromedical Squadron, left Buildings 2806 and 2809 without residents before the February drill weekend.

According to the Base Master Plan, these buildings needed to be knocked down to make way for necessary road modifications. The road that runs the length of the base, Spruance Drive, must be kept in accordance with Force Protection regulations. By accomplishing this task, the road will be farther away from buildings, straighter, and safer - especially for the massive eighteen wheeled tractor-trailers that make deliveries of fuel and supplies on base.

One more added bonus: by accomplishing this task, it will also give the base room for some much needed parking!
