Symposium'Brig. Gen. Jim Dougherty assembled the retired officers of the 261st Signal Brigade on Sunday, Feb. 10, to share his Vision for the unit and solicit their input. As the key leaders who developed the vision in the past and who transformed the 261st Signal Command years ago, these gentlemen represent over 450 years of collective experience and expertise. Keeping up with 'CSM shuffle' at 261st Signal Brigade 2002 is the ‘Sergeant Major Year of Change’ at the 261st Signal Brigade. Sgt. Maj. Bill Garner and Sgt. Maj. Edwin Cooke, who are dual-slotted in the Signal Plans NCO position at the 261st Signal Brigade, will retire in April and May, respectively. Command Sgt. Maj. Gerald Abbott, Command Sergeant Major for the 261st Signal Brigade will retire in August. Based on these retirements, the following changes will occur... Carper in surprise ceremony
Sen. Tom Carper's appearance surprised Maj. Gen. Frank D. Vavala, adjutant general of the Delaware National Guard and most of the other soldiers at the Senior Leaders Conference, February 9. Carper was not scheduled to attend or speak at the conference this year, which was held at Gunning Bedford Middle School in Delaware City.
