Det. 2, Co. E, 131st Avn deploys

Friends, family and leaders of the Delaware National Guard said "so long" to ten soldiers of Detachment 2, Company E, 131st aviation in a departure ceremony held pn Sunday, February 9, at the SBI Duncan Readiness Center in New Castle.

The soldiers have been called to active duty under a Presidential Select Reserve call-up in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. They will move to their mobilization station, Fort Stewart, Georgia, before embarking for an undisclosed location overseas.

Soldiers of the detachment are aviation mechanics and provide support and maintenance for Army aircraft. Speakers at the ceremony included Lt. Gov. John Carney; Maj. Gen. Frank Vavala, The Adjutant General; and Col. Hank McCann, commander of the 72nd Troop Command.
