Recent Awards
Below are two soldiers who recently received awards during their drill weekends: (click on images for larger photos)

At final formation on Sunday, January 13th, Command Sgt. Maj. Paul Breeding presented Staff Sgt. W. Armore Rice Jr. with 'The Command Sergeant Major’s Certificate of Merit.' SSG Rice, who is assigned as a Transmission System Team Chief in Company A, 280th Signal Battalion, was selected from a pool of twenty candidates as the recipient of the prestigious Col. S.B.I Duncan Leadership Award. He will be honored in a formal ceremony on February 10th at the Duncan Armory in New Castle.

Brig. Gen. James Dougherty presents Cpt. Sean Hall with a spot award (ARCOM) Army Commendation Medal  for meritorious service while assigned to the 261st Signal Brigade.

In January, the 261st bid farewell to Cpt. Sean Hall who is transferring to the Florida Army National Guard. Cpt. Hall, an Infantry Officer joined the Delaware National Guard in April 2001 and was assigned as the Public Affairs Officer for the 261st Signal Brigade. Over the last nine months he has functioned in that capacity; and, additionally, served as a project officer in the Operations and Planning Section. Everyone from the 261st family wishes Sean the best of luck with his new unit. On June 1, 2002, he will assume command of the 2152 Detachment, 153rd Finance Battalion which is located in St. Augustine, Florida.
