A ceremony that marked the unfurling of the battalion colors for Task Force 2nd of the 72nd Troop Command (TF 2-72TC) was held on January 20. Lt. Col. Scott Chambers, the battalion's commander, and Sgt. Maj. Michael O'Brien, the battalion's Sergeant Major, received the colors from Col. Hank McCann, Commander, Troop Command. The purpose of the task force is to provide command and control for the 153rd Military Police Company, Company A 3/126th Aviation, Company C 2/126 Aviation, the 287th Army Band, and the 444th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment. This will allow Troop Command to fully function as a Brigade with two battalions. The full-time and M-Day staff is now fully in place and ready to assist the units in their missions, according to Master Sgt. Elizabeth Simmons, battalion operations NCO. "It will be difficult to support five different units with five different types of missions, but we are ready for the challenge," said Lt. Col. Chambers, who was formerly executive officer under Col. McCann, Commander, Troop Command. |
