RTI courses gear up for training
By Spc. Renee Thomas, 193rd Regional Training Institute

1st Sgt. Butch Lee of the 193rd Recruit Holding Company will join and encourage his soldiers any day.

January drill marked a new semester of classes that are only offered annually at the 193rd Regional Training Institute (RTI). Advanced Non-Commissioned Officers Course (ANCOC) and Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Course (BNCOC), phase one, began in January and consists of six months of training. The course prepares the NCO for the next level of leadership responsibility. To be successful soldiers must be highly motivated, disciplined and ready to train.

Officer Candidate School (OCS) orientation was also a success as over 20 soldiers attended the briefing and follow-on processing. RTI Commander Lt. Col. Ruth Irwin was pleased with the turnout. The prospective candidates were eager to hear her welcome and the briefing that followed on what they could expect from the program. Irwin commended the soldiers for their desire and dedication to serve their country and state. She said the program would be a challenge for each, but that it would be well worth it in the end.

Other courses at the RTI are still open for student enrollment. Check with your Readiness NCO for class dates and times. Total Army Instructor Training Course (TATIC), Civil Disturbance, High Frequency Radio, and the Combat Lifesavers Course are available for students. Company Level Pre-Command Course is still enrolling students. Interested personnel should contact their Readiness NCO.

Advanced Non-commissioned Officers Course soldiers are prepared to take their required Army Physical Fitness Test.
