The Delaware Army National Guard's newest readiness center, which will soon be home to the 261st Signal Brigade, 721st Troop Command and 31st Civil Support Team (WMD), is nearing completion in Smyrna. Construction began in December 2001 by general contractor, Dave Hall Inc. of New Castle, and will be completed this year in April.

The Smyrna Readiness Center features state-of-the-art Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection measures, a 141-seat high-tech auditorium, a fitness center, locker room and 5,800 sq. ft. assembly floor. Overall, the building will provide 54,000 sq. ft. of staff offices and common work areas on a 13-acre site.

Soldiers from the 261st, 721st and 31st are scheduled to occupy the new site in June.
