Some Birds Migrate Farther Than Others
… As was
certainly the case with the newest birds to arrive in Delaware. Rather
than feathered fowl, on Thursday July 25, at 5:30 p.m., the first two
UH-60A Blackhawk helicopters were spotted in the skies over Delaware,
making their new home the Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) in New
Castle, Delaware.
Soldiers from 153rd Military Police Company continued preparing for their deployment to Saudia Arabia by conducting many tactical exercises and drills including first aid and safety at the 193rd Regional Training Institute from July 14 to the 21. They are planning to depart from their Delaware City unit on August 12.

AES helps during urban mass casualty exercise in BaltimoreOne of the largest mass casualty exercises ever conducted in a U.S. urban area occurred on July 13, in downtown Baltimore, Maryland. Named "Free State Response 2002," this exercise brought forth a day full of injury and mayhem to simulate a chemical attack -- the release of toxic gas -- and bomb explosion in a parked motor home in a Baltimore Ravens Football Stadium parking lot full of fans prior to a Sunday game. In the eye of the storm from 9/11 forward September 11th, 2001 was a day of horrific terrorist attacks on America. Since that day hundreds of people in the 166th Airlift Wing have been involved in some aspect of Operation Noble Eagle or Operation Enduring Freedom, and sometimes both. Volunteer Service Medal

Sgt. Christopher Guest of Newark, a soldier in the Delaware National Guard, earned the 2002 President’s Award at Delaware State University in Dover, as class valedictorian. The top graduate maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average during his four years at the university and earned a dual major in Aircraft Systems Management and Airways Science Management. Guard Firefighters named Fire Department of Year
Delaware’s
own 166th Airlift Wing Fire Department has been selected by an impartial
panel as the Air National Guard Fire Department of the Year for 2001. In
June, the unit received notification from Chief Master Sgt. Larry Hall,
Fire Chief of the 151st Air Refueling Wing in Salt Lake City, Utah, and
President of the Air National Guard Fire Chiefs Association.
