Commemorating Caesar Rodney's historic ride
On
a stormy July 2, 1776, Kent County native, Caesar Rodney, rode 80 miles
from Dover to Philadelphia to cast Delaware's deciding vote for independence
from British rule. On a hot and sunny July 2, 227 years later, that
scenario was reenacted in downtown Wilmington.
166th AW part of Herculean gathering of C-130s in Operation Iraqi Freedom
Aircraft
from Delaware's 166th AW joined forces with five Air National Guard
units and one Air Reserve unit to form the largest collection of C-130s
in the world for Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Bassano retires Sgt. Wanda
Bassano retired on Friday, June 27, from the Delaware National Guard
after more than 20 years of service.

For some,
the war in Iraq ended when Iraqis dragged Saddam Hussein's toppled statue
through the streets of Baghdad. For others, it ended when President
Bush announced from the deck of an aircraft carrier that the Iraqi regime
had fallen.
Local
businesses raise $1000 to help support troops, families
Janet Rzewnicki, former State Treasurer, presented a check for $1,000
to Maj.
Gen. Francis Vavala on June 20. The donation will be split in half between
the Delaware National Guard and Reserve Emergency Relief Fund and the
Delaware Youth Camp.

Frequency School instructors called to action for 'Liberty Shield'
On 12 Mar 03 I received a call from National Guard Bureau asking for
High Frequency Radio help. We were asked to come quickly, as the war
was about to start.

With the Special Olympics Delaware athletic events winding to a close
Saturday afternoon, June 7, a dozen members of the Delaware Air National
Guard.

in the Delaware National Guard to do: "Turn wrenches and fix stuff."

Volunteer Recognition Luncheon held
The Delaware National Guard, Family Program Office, along with Maj.
Gen. Frank D. Vavala, the Adjutant General for Delaware, and Colonel
Ernest G. Talbert, the Wing Commander of the 166th Airlift Wing, recognized
the efforts and self sacrifices made by all family volunteers who serve
and support our deployed Delaware National Guard members and families.
153rd MPs return
home
More than 300 family members, friends and other supporters welcomed
home the Delaware Army National Guard's 153rd Military Police Company
on May 24.

Delaware Guard soldiers wins marathon
Saturday, April 26, was a cold, rainy, miserable day in northern Delaware.
While most people were either still asleep or just getting out of bed
to enjoy their first cup of coffee, Warrant Officer Greg Calloway of
the Delaware Army National Guard was busy running up and down muddy
hills and crossing rivers in Newark's White Clay Creek State Park.
