Private 1st Class Robert Ford, a computer/ automation systems repairman (35J) at Company A, 280th Signal Battalion, was awarded ‘Honor Graduate’ upon recent completion of his Advanced Individual Training (AIT) course.

Asked why he selected this MOS (Military Occupational Specialty), Ford replied that working with computers has always been a hobby of his, and that this MOS provided a structured class for him to gain greater knowledge and experience in this area.

Ford said that he joined the Delaware National Guard to get tuition assistance with college. He is currently a full-time student at Delaware Technical and Community College where he is working on a degree in Network Management. He also works part-time at his local YMCA where he provides after-school care for children; and, serves as a summer camp counselor.

Ford’s goal is to work hard in college, and, when eligible, apply for the Officer Candidate School (OCS) program and become a career officer in the Delaware National Guard.
