Delaware National Guard Practice makes perfect RMC training prepares 280th for AT mission By Maj. Jane Zak, Public Affairs Officer, 261st Signal Brigade
The teams from the tactical switching sections of Company A and B, 280th Signal Battalion, conducted a parking lot exercise at the 261st Signal Brigade – practicing the installation of a critical configuration that will be used to support subscribers at Grecian Firebolt next month. This is the first time that the unit will be using this configuration with the new switching shelters, according to Chief Warrant 3 John Turner, 280th Signal Battalion. This exercise was a ‘practice run’ to ensure we can provide timely subscriber support at annual training. This past year, both Company A and Company B received the upgrade to the large switching shelters (TTC-39A). They now deploy with the new generation of this equipment – the TTC-39D. There are some significant differences in the shelters – so it was critical that these teams had the opportunity to train prior to having subscribers to support. The units will run Remote Multiplexer Controllers(RMC) directly from the switch – to provide subscriber phone service. Up to 16 phones can be installed using this configuration.
