Brownie Girl Scout Troop 549 donated 46 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies to Delaware National Guard troops deployed overseas.

Brownie Girl Scout Troop 549, first and third-graders at the Pike Creek Christian School in Newark, recently donated 46 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies to send off to troops deployed overseas. The girls raised money for their troop by doing extra chores around their homes, said Kim Patrella and Julie Kramerdas, leaders from Troop 549. Instead of using that money for themselves, they decided to purchase boxes of Girl Scout Cookies and send them to soldiers and airmen from the Delaware National Guard who are serving away from home. W.L. Gore & Associates matched the girls’ donation and recently some of the Brownies delivered the sweets to our State Headquarters for shipping. The girls also sent homemade cards and letters to start a pen pal project with those deployed.
