Oustanding leaders recognized at 261st Honors Dinner

Col. Hank McCann received a Meritorious Service Medal and The Order of Mercury for excellent leadership as the 261st's previous Deputy Commander.

Held at the Landings on Dover Air Force Base, the 261st Honors Dinner highlighted some of the Delaware Army National Guard's top leaders for the previous training year. The elegant event featured keynote speaker Maj. Gen. Bowman of the 311th Signal Command, a formal dinner with a presentation of awards, and a "Casino Night" after dinner for continued entertainment.

This year, door prizes were made available by trading "Doc Dollars," paper currency printed with a photo of Brig. Gen. James Doughtery, 261st Signal Brigade commander. The monopoly-like money was passed out evenly to everyone who attended. Then a coveted array of gift certificates and other memorabilia were  'auctioned' late into the evening.

Before the 'Casino Night' festivities began, however, a number of honorees received awards. Below is a list of the recipients of awards during the 261st Honors Dinner:
