The 249th Engineer Detachment received an overall satisfactory rating on the Command Inspection that was conducted by its higher headquarters, 1st Battalion, 72nd Troop Command during the November drill. A Command Inspection provides an accurate profile of the readiness of the inspected unit, in as much as they are a comprehensive review of all phases of unit operations.

Command Inspections include an in-ranks inspection of soldiers, review of all property accountability inspections, and other regulatory inspections to include safety reports, physical security, nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) reports, the Command Supply Discipline Program (CSDP), Command Evaluation Team (COMET) or Command Logistics Review Team (CLRT).
