Col. Ernest Talbert, commander of the 166th Airlift Wing, Delaware Air National Guard, announced on November 25 that Lt. Col. 59th redesignated as the DEARNG Medical Command 249th conducts command inspection The 249th Engineer Detachment received an overall satisfactory rating on the Command Inspection that was conducted by its higher headquarters, 1st Battalion, 72nd Troop Command during the November drill. 249th celebrates dual awards It was a big day on two separate fronts Sunday, November 17, for the soldiers and officers of the 249th Engineer Detachment. Kirkwood Award presented to 160th Engineer Co. commander Capt. William Z. Crouch, commander of the 160th Engineer Company, Combat Support Equipment (CSE), received the Robert Kirkwood Award on November 16. The Kirkwood Award is presented each year to the Delaware Army National Guard's top company commander. Who was Robert Kirkwood, anyway? Veteran's Day salute to military The 287th Army Band helped host this year's ‘A Musical Salute to the Military’ in Dover on November 10 in observance of Veteran’s Day. Pamela S. Gonce assumed command of the 280th Signal Battalion from Lt. Col. Laura L. Sievert in a ceremony held in the Conference Center at the Bethany Beach Training Site on Saturday, November 16. Co. C, 126th Aviation changes command Capt. Chris Dooner relinquished command of 126th Aviation, Company C, to Capt. Darin Schuster during a ceremony held at the Duncan Armory on Sunday, November 17. As is tradition, he had his final military flight on Wednesday, November 13. Wanted: Delaware's Women Veterans The Women In Military Service For America Memorial, located at the gateway to Arlington National Cemetery, is the nation's only major memorial to honor the some two million women who have served in America's defense. Proudly, some 742 of Delaware's women veterans are individually listed on the memorial's rolls, each of them finally taking their rightful place in history. Delaware runners compete in Army 10-miler Race Twelve members of the Delaware National Guard participated in the Army Ten-Miler held in Washington DC on Sunday, October 20th. Over 18,000 runners were registered for the annual event, (the largest ten-mile race in the nation). Blue Hen Chapter of the Signal Corps Regimental Association presented several awards at 33rd Annual Honors Dinner, including: the Bronze Order of the Mercury, the Wahatchee Medal, and the William A.
