Signal Bde celebrates
33rd Annual Honors Dinner

Blue Hen Chapter of the Signal Corps Regimental Association presented several awards at 33rd Annual Honors Dinner, including: the Bronze Order of the Mercury, the Wahatchee Medal, and the William A. F. Pyle Award.

Maj. Angela Showell, Lt. Col. David Passwaters and Lt. Col. Christopher Haser were awarded the Bronze Order of Mercury medal and certificate during the 261st Honors Dinner. The Bronze Order of Mercury award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated the highest standards of integrity, moral character, professional competence and selflessness, and who have contributed significantly to the promotion of the Signal Corps and the Signal Regimental Association. Mrs. Carol Blevins was awarded the Wahatchee medal and certificate for her volunteer contributions to the Delaware National Guard. The Wahatchee Award named for Georgia patriot Nancy Hart is a Signal Corps award given to individuals who have voluntarily contributed in a significant way to the improvement of the Signal Corps community. CW3 John Turner, HHC, 280th was presented the ‘The William A.F. Pyle Award’ for his outstanding contributions to the Delaware signal community. Honors Dinner Jeopardy
Capt. Frank Blackmon, HHC, 280th Signal Battalion, served as the Master of Ceremonies of the 1st Annual Regimental Jeopardy Tournament that was held following the 33rd Annual Honors Dinner.

Competition ran high as teams of four individuals competed to earn the event’s official currency ‘Doc Dollars’ which could be turned in for chances to win one of the many prizes that were donated by the 261st Signal Brigade, Recruiting and the Signal Corps Regimental Association (SCRA). Additionally, the SCRA raffled off a basket of cheer, conducted a membership drive, and presented various Association awards.

The social committee from SCRA plans to continue its involvement in the planning and execution of the Annual Honors Dinner that is hosted by the 261st Signal Brigade in addition to hosting various social events throughout the year. The next Blue Hen Chapter Social will be held on 22 Nov 02 from 1800 to 2000 hrs at The Landings at Dover Air Force Base. In conjunction with this event, the Chapter will also be holding its Annual Elections for Officers.
