Mr. Bill Watkins from the
National Guard Bureau was the guest speaker this year.
| Logisticians from
Region 1 gathered for the annual Region 1 Logistics Conference on
September 17 and 18 at the Hilton Hotel in Wilmington. The
conference was sponsored by Col. Peter S. Fedorkowicz, Director of
Logistics (DOL) for the Delaware Army National Guard. This year's hot
topics are Single Stock Fund, fielding of Supply Property (R) module,
Integrated Materiel Automation Program, Improved Physical Fitness Uniforms, Central Issuing
Facility, Connelly Award for region 1, WEB Logistics Integrated Database,
shortfall in HMMWV’s and the Second Beret. The conference began with opening remarks by
Col. Fedorkowicz, welcoming the region 1 members. Col. Ron Cefalone, the Eagle Support Services
representative for the region and the conference facilitator, followed.
The conference is comprised of DOLs, Service Maintenance
Managers, Supply Management Officers, Logistic Management Officers, Combat
Service Support Automated Management Office, Food Service and
Transportation personnel, and others representatives from the 13 states
that make up the region. This year the guest speaker was Mr. Bill Watkins
from the National Guard Bureau.
Col. Cefalone, the Eagle rep and DOL for New Jersey, started
the conference off on Tuesday, September 17. Basic introductions of the
region members and updates in the Logistics community were discussed with
a special presentation from a COBRO Corporation representative on the
Material Returns process. Mid-morning the region members moved out to
their focus groups and began addressing issues most important to them in
their area of expertise. This was an excellent opportunity to network with
other region representatives and express concerns and success stories for
working issues and projects.
The group reconvened Wednesday September 18 for a
presentation from Mr. Bill Watkins and closing remarks from both Col.
Cefalone and Col. Fedorkowicz. Col. Cefalone received good feedback for
the EAGLE committee. The day ended with everyone departing for their home
station with a new appreciation as to why our state is called 'The Small
Wonder.'
