The purpose of the Child and Youth Services is to bring the children of the Members into the Guard Family. "It takes a village to raise a Family" and in todays Guard's family it is critical for all members to feel supported and valued for their role and contribution to supporting the Soldier.
Another purpose of the position is to serve as a team supervisor and advisor on Youth Development issues, responsible for the development, planning, implementing and administering of the Guard Family Youth Program concerning family and quality of life issues while a family member is in any of the three phases of the deployment cycle.
The primary goal is to keep the families of deployed members connected and to facilitate a smooth readjustment during the reunion phase. The work directly affects the social and cultural wellness of military members and their families.
The benefit of the Children and Youth Services is the position contributes to the improvement and effectiveness of the family before, during and after the deployment of the military family member.
