Captain Ring Lardner was recognized as the Delaware Army National Guard’s outstanding company-grade commander for 2006. CPT Lardner commanded the 249th Engineer Detachment during that time, but was a year late in receiving this recognition as he was deployed during 2007 to Iraq with the 198th Signal Battalion.

Captain Kevin Conley received the Kirkwood Award for 2007 as he commanded the 160th Engineer Company.

The 160th also received the 2007 GK Hastings Award for Excellence in Training. This is the second year in a row. 2nd Lt Andrew Steanson (Operations Officer) and Sgt. First Class John Camponelli (Mess Sergeant) are presented the award by Assistant Adjutant General, Army, Brig. Gen. Terry Wiley.

Staff Sgt. Tiffany Hudson of the 166th Medical Group and 1st Lt. Richard Bell (who subsequently accepted a direct commission and transferred to the USAR) were the recipients of the Colonel SBI Duncan Leadership Award for 2007. Each year an outstanding enlisted soldier and airman are selected for this award and earn a savings bond and the Delaware Distinguished Service Medal.

Major Brad Knight took command of the 31st Civil Support Team from Colonel Ruth Irwin in a ceremony held at the Smryna Readiness Center. MAJ Knight was the Executive Officer for the 31st the past three years and COL Irwin is now the Operations and Training Officer (J3) for the Joint Force Headquarters. During this ceremony, COL Irwin received her promotion to Colonel and Master Sgt Kemberly Hines-Fairfax.

COL Pam Gonce was promoted to the rank of Colonel and assigned as the Director of Personnel (J1) for the Joint Force Headquarters.
